PCG-GRT916Z and USB boot possibilities

Hi,

I just bought a Vaio Sony Laptop and I wanted to boot it either from an USB floppy (Brand Compaq !!) or with an USB key !!
Can anyone tell me if it's possible and how to enable such boot ??

It is not possible, you need a Sony floppy disk drive which is compatible.

OK... I can understand that it's not possible with another floppy brand .... But what about booting from an USB key !!!
I know that the main PC/Laptop brands (Compaq, HP, Dell...)has this fonctionality available in the BIOS ???
If not available today and as this model is quite NEW, do you think that Sony will post soon a Firmware upgrade to enable USB key boot ??

Sony haven't yet done boot from USB key, which is frustrating :smileyfrustrated:

...and my last question is about product evolution !!

Do know if Sony usually has a efficient follow up of these products, as frequent Firmware upgrade or BIOS upgrade to enable NEW fonctionalities ???

Sometimes they do put out the odd firmware update, it all depends on if there are problems.

Nope. Sony seldom releases new firmware and updates. Hope they change this policy.
