Nex-5R Aperture setting

I have a second hand Nex-5R Camera with standard 18-55 mm. Emount lens..

It seems to work very well BUT I am unable to set the Aperture when in A Mode nor set the Shutter speed when in S Mode. However I can set the shutter when in M Mode, but not the Aperture.

Can anyone tell me if this is:
1 A fault

2 A setting problem

3 Something that can be fixed.

I have tried to load a sftware version update but already have the latest one so installation is refused.

Hi Agolindo,

This sounds a bit unusual, as you should be able to set the f number in the A mode, the camera automatically sets the shutter speed and ISO sensitivity, while in the S mode, the camera automatically sets the aperture and ISO sensitivity. So, when you try to use the control wheel dial to change the aperture/ shutter speed, does the camera display an error?
